Joël Guerriau is a Senator for Loire-Atlantique elected into the French Senate in 2011. He is the Secretary of the Senate and the Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and the Armed Forces. He heads the senatorial delegation within the framework of the European defense and security policy. Guerriau was the Mayor of Saint-Sebastien-sur-Loire from 1995 to 2017 and General Councillor of Loire-Atlantique from 1996 to 2011. He is a founding member of the Union of Democrats and Independents party.
